I've been inundated (blessed?) with a very large amount of content regarding authenticity and living an authentic life, more specifically the health benefits (both mental and physical benefits) of being more genuine with our everyday lives and with who we interact with, and recurring themes always remind me of what a college professor of mine once said:

If I say something more than once, it means I think it's important.

The same in life. The more I see something, the more important I feel it is and the universe is basically telling me to look at this and learn from it.

Throughout my entire life up until this point, I have always felt the need to conform, to please everyone around me at the sacrifice of my identity and self-worth and it turns out I am not alone.

I achieved this degree as a means to prove that people can achieve anything they can put their minds to (although it may take time!) and to give closure on that journey.

Now the new one begins and it starts now, being most genuine and authentic with everyone (not just revealing a little bit here and there) and I encourage everyone to do the same and see how it changes your life.

How.

Researching the best way to introduce more authenticity into ones life, I came across an article in Forbes online that lists three essential steps to becoming more authentic and I thought this is a great place to start, so this is an exploration of how to be more genuine and how we (yes I'm on this journey with you!) can put these steps/tips into practice.

The first step is to Determine exactly where you can't be real and why.

The questions we are to ask ourselves are these (and it's recommended to keep a journal to express our thoughts and beliefs):

WHERE do you feel you need to be fake?

WHY are you fake?

WHAT will happen if you become more authentic?

I'm going to revisit this topic at the end of the week, post my findings as a means to see where I can't be real and the reasons why.

I'd love to connect with those on a similar journey and if you'd like to connect feel free to drop me a line and we'll navigate together!
