Embracing new possibilities: emerging into the light after conquering limiting beliefs.

I wake up most days feeling like it’s Monday even when it’s not - dreading the idea of going into work because deep down inside I feel the day is going to be like any other work day- a typical day that may offer a little challenge but more of the same boring activity, where I’m going through the motions.

The solution seems to be simple-change your environment or change your attitude. Gut instinct tells me I should change my environment and pursue a new career, but something holds me back.

My inner voice tells me I should stay put with statements like "What if I'll never have it as good as I do now?". "What if I fail?", and "what will people think or say about me?". Valid statements that has helped me choose comfort and staying put.

But what if those statements didn't exist? Would life be different? What's stopping me from moving forward? What am I so afraid of?

You know, a big reason we don't go after what we really want in life boils down to being scared of something. And if you really dig into what scares us and makes us afraid to go after that thing, it usually comes from lack of knowledge or understanding.

But what if we can take away the mystery from the "thing" that’s holding us back. Would it lose its power? I believe it would and the fear would disappear. And once we're not afraid anymore, we can actually start tackling those limiting beliefs – the stuff that's holding us back from the life we really want. Because now we're looking at those beliefs with some understanding and a place of knowledge.

But how exactly do we go about removing the mystery that surrounds our fear and ultimately holds us hostage?

According to psychology today, some steps to overcome our fears are to put a label on the fear, analyze and talk about it, and finally face the fear itself.

By labeling the fear, it reduces the mystery and power of the fear itself. Once we’ve taken away its power we can analyze the potential worse-case scenario and reverse engineer it as a way to show ourselves the fear isn't as bad as first imagined. We are then able to come up with a gameplan to face the fear and push through it, leading to a better version of ourselves and our life.

And, just like fears, our limiting beliefs can be treated the same way. If we can label those beliefs, analyze and show to ourselves there's nothing to those old beliefs then we can go beyond them and create a new "unlimited" belief to take their place.

It is important to realize that instilling new beliefs and smashing through our fears won't happen overnight. It will take time but with persistence and knowledge we will improve, it is going to happen and change will take place and don't forget to appreciate how far you’ve come. Remember to celebrate those small victories along the way, because each win counts. They’re the building blocks of future successes.

I hope this resonates with you and helps in your journey of self-discovery and improvement. If you have any comments or would like to make additions and suggestions please feel free to reach out. I appreciate you taking the time to read this and wish you well on your journey!
